Check out the first post in this thread!
In short - the game costs 5e+2 each week, 0.50 e goes to laddies obv, but e1.50 from each player goes towards the monthly league prize pool. All these get added up, along with e50 added by SPS, and gets paid out to the top 3 in league, on a 50/30/20 %age basis.
Oh and the top 3 also recieve gus hansens book
Players who play every week should receive bonus points towards the monthly points total.
For example: 7 points per week plus 50% bonus if played in all 4 league games.

Re: SPS June League
My only gripe and maybe something to look at in the future, but points are greater for the winner based on entrants, maybe next mth we can have static point for the top ten places only??
10 to 1 from 1st??
this way u have more chance of making it back if u happen to miss a game or dont make the ft.
IMO of cours.

i know what youre saying, but there were just more runners in the first game. This point system rewards people who play every week.
The top people in the league have played all 3 weeks, and done ok or well each week.
I think points for every position is still the way forward, but there was a slight problem in that the first game got 16 more runners than the next 2 weeks games, and we could look at recitifying that? Or everyone could just play 3 or 4 of the months games....

Re: SPS June League
dont do anything for this mth, but each week it will have a different number of runners, and its not that easy for someone if they miss one week due to being unable to play.
we should give points on ability not for turning up, if u get me
but its up to u

Re: SPS June League
Yes i totally agree.
Forget about turning up to play just plug all the players head into this machine. It scans the brain and gives everyone an ability rating (i.e from the brain patterns determine how they react under every conceivable situation over infinite amount of time) This way you know who is the best and we can all save time and get back to trying to watch porn without being caught.

Re: SPS June League
There are a number of alternative ways the scoring can be done but each having its own pros and cons , here some examples.
1) score each player acording to the % of the fields they beat. If someone wins a 100 runner one they get 99 cos they beat 99% of field. If someone wins a 20 runner one they get 95 points etc. Draw back to this is that if someone wins a big field game they may feel that they are not suffciently rewarded for the feat.
2) have allot more league games a month, 4 a week or somethin. Only count the top 10 results of each of the league entrants. Good thing about this system is that due to the increased number of games the league prize pool is going to be nice payout for winners also rewards high attendance (more games played, more chance of getting a good set of 10 scoring games)while giving players opportunities to miss games without ruling them out of contention totally.
3) some kind of hybrid system i.e % based scoring with top x games counting. Or perhaps a system simula to 1) but with a field size bonus (% field beat plus squre root of field size for the score).
just a few suggestons , thinking out loud

Re: SPS June League
I think the downswing in the amount of players is due to the fact that after the 1st week there were no email or facebook reminders . I only remember because it is programmed into my phone .
I'm sure if reminders were sent out off rick or any of the mods the numbers would go back up .
Only my theory but wtf do i know

hmmm tricky one.... sending email or facebook reminders every week does mean bombarding people with spam, and it would prove fairly difficualt to not include people who didnt want to play lol.
I try and keep the spam mailings to a minimum, as i know how much they annoy some people... but mbe im wrong, and should just ad the crap out of everything hehe
And nice first post almac m8, nice to see you here

1. interesting, this does keep the scores fairly similar, but as mentioned doesnt reward people at all if one of the games is particularly larger than the others. Id rather focus on ways to make the games similar in field size
2. This was on my mind, 2-3 games a week mbe, and top 6-8 counting or something, but at this early stage im not sure if we would have the runners to make it viable
3. yup lots of interesting mathsy ideas about points - but i went with the "simple is best" idea, so that peeps could easily see at a glance how many points theyd be getting
4. Why were pringles not mentioned? And wheres your avatar at?

Re: SPS June League
Massive to congratulations to Geminis, our first monthly League winner!!!
Well played also to Nicky889, and bbmoney, great effort.
with 42 runners in the 1st game, 26 in the 2nd, 24 in the 3rd, and 24 in the 4th, we had 174 euro's in the prize pool, with the 50 euros added by SPS the total is 224 euros.
This makes the payouts:
1st = e112
2nd = e67
3rd = e45
with the top 3 also recieving a copy of Gus hansen's book.
thanks to everyone for taking part, the July league starts on sunday 4th of July, see you all there!
