Just read Rolf Slotboom's 'Secret of Professional PLO', found it to be pretty good, review is here in the study...

    http://www.sharkpokerschool.com/the-study/poker-book-reviews/slotboom-plo/

Its based on Omaha cash, but a lot of it will translate well to tourns. just unusual to find a decent book on Omaha Smile

Rolf is releasing a new book focusing on 6 max and shorthanded play.

However, Jeff Hwang's book - "Pot limit Omaha : The big play strategy" is a damn good read which I recommend to all.

Mind you, I do like the classic "Championship Omaha" by T.J. Cloutier.

aye, think the 6 max one is with Rob Hollink as well, he's quite sound, should be good, think its out now-ish. expect a review shortly Smile

I quite liked TJ's book myself, in fact a lot of that series are ok, but are a bit dated, and often aimed at very tight games, rather than the looser more aggressive online games nowadays. Think i prefer Rolf's.

Ill try the Jeff wang one tho, cheers.

You will enjoy and find Jeff's book very informative.

Lend me Rolf's new book after you've reviewed it Squire.

Nothing to do with omaha, but i bought small stakes holdem by Ed Miller, David Skalansky and Mason Malmuth the other day as it was supposed to be talking about aggressive poker (im not slightly aggressive so thought this would help). I got halfway through the first chapter and it started talking about 4 - 8 level buy-ins with 2-4 blinds so i carried on reading a bit and it started talking about small bets and big bets took me 3 times re-reading the chapter before i realised it was fixed limit Evil or Very Mad

So, valuable warning to all forumites there -

Always read the back cover and know what you're buying.

You would think that but amazon doesn't like it, also it only says hold'em there too. It's a pretty good trick.

While I concur that it may indeed be an underhanded ploy by Amazon, do they not print the books "Blurb" further down the items page ?

No its not Amazons trick its the book writers. theres no mention of fixed limit anywhere at all. It could be that they mean't it to mean all forms of poker and just based the bet patterns/buy-ins on fixed limit. But then it's easier to find out were you are from bet sizes rather then a bet and a raise on the turn equals 3 big bets.

aye, amazons page makes no mention of it being just limit play, and though i cant find my copy to verify this, im pretty sure the back of the book (or the front for that matter) doesnt mention this either lol.

I think the books concepts translate quite well to pot limit also, but in the review on the main site ive recommended it just for fixed limit players, as some of the turn/river play is just too loose for no-limit imho.

Its still well worth a read though m8, some good stuff in there, and who knows, you might find yourself playing fixed limit....

    Sigh.

Seek and ye shall find sayeth the Lord -

"I think it needs to be stated more clearly that this book deals exclusively with limit poker. "No limit" is not mentioned once. A lot of the advice dealing with when to call and raise, pot odds and implied odds is (I believe) inaccurate of completely wrong for a NL game."

Taken from a review about the book on Amazon's page.

lol, ok well spotted What a Face

but thats a fairly well hidden mention! I dont think you should have to read peoples amazon reviews to find it out is all lol.

And if you were buying it in the shops rather than amazon...

Anyway, I still like the book!

Just natural for me to check all info regarding a book, including the reviews, before buying.

However, I do think that most literature written by the mentioned authors tends to slant towards limit poker.

    I could be wrong.

    It happened once.
