bubster has a point - very interesting flat shove on the flop...

If we assume he has AA KK AK AQ QQ JJ 1010...

with AA KK or AQ you get all the chips no matter what you do.

with qq you lose all your chips no matter what

but with AK JJ or 1010, you probably just pick the pot up if you flat shove, whereas by checking you give him a chance to c bet, and you can reraise or call. If you call then you can check a blank turn, or bet if something worrying comes. (like a jack)

so basically you lose no chips by checking instead of pushing, but gain a lot when he has something that he cant call your shove with. By shoving you only get called by hands that are going to bet after u check anyway Smile

but nice all the same lol.

odds of hitting set on flop - just under 1 in 10.

so to call 270, u need to be reasonably confident you will win 2700+.

If he has AA or KK this is a fairly reasonable assumption....

my reasoning was that the player had been playing very loose & seeing as many cards as possible. i apologise for not including this b4! i also thought if he had AA or KK, either of those on turn & i'd have to fold my decent hand to an all in or very large bet.

ty for all ur thoughts tho. i can see the reasoning behind wot ur saying. it did work out quite well as i played it. maybe i'll try a different way next time.
