Off to Gala casino tonight

Hi all

Am off to a casino tonight for my 1st live tournament.. its a £20 rebuy (x2 rebuys and addon)

3000 starting stack and 40min blinds
Will i be okay to not rebuy and feel ok with the original starting stack??

50/100 is start level i think!!

Any help ideas etc greatly appreciated!!

Seriously though gl at the tables hope you win your fair share of races.

On the advice front it's usually an all in fest in rebuys at casinos but if you have only two then you may get some decent play.

It's always a good idea and to watch the guys closest to you to start with. Good chance you will be playing them in the blinds.

Usual advice still applies of course. You cant win it in the 1st hour etc.

Really different live to online but the cards aren't. Trust your judgement and don't hesitate with your moves. Try to make whatever action you take do look like it carries authority.

Im thinking of just sitting v tight early on and try to settle in a bit!!

Do you think the starting stack is plenty to play with without having to rebuy???

I would always take the rebuy m8. Stack size matters at any point in the tournie and remember that others at the table will have double chips also, so if you find yourself with a monster opportunity and only half the stack of the guy you are playing then you will kick yourself.

Plus I take it you are willing to rebuy if you lose your chips so why not just start with that anyway?

They are brilliant events held all over the uk, coming up to the end of their 3rd year now.

The APAT was set up to provide pro level tournaments at an amateur buyin, the events are over two days and held on weekends to make things easier.

I didnt get to go in the bloody end lol

Im hopefully going either sunday night or next week so will keep the GL charms with me till then TY

Will defo be interested in the APAT they sound freaking awesome maaaan!!!!

Sorry Trapsetter, had problems connecting to the forum via my mobile but delighted Hoppy pointed you in the right direction.

Indeed, the APAT has done tremendous things for amateur poker, the atmosphere at each event is friendly and welcoming but the poker is serious with GUKPT main event seats going to the winners as added value.

Keep an eye on the site as quite sure season 4 will kick off towards the end of the year and they events go over England and to Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Really hope to see you at one of these things but be warned, the online buyin normally sells out within minutes but they do have online satellites.

Never mind m8. I would spend the time between now and then possibly reading up on live play and get yourself properly ready when it comes around.

Maybe try and find a local event which is NOT a rebuy ?

Don't be fooled that because it's not a rebuy (if you find one) that it's any better a game. The quality in casinos is, quite frankly, shocking! Take 'em for all they've got, Trap!

While I generally concur with MADV about the skill level you will encounter, my advice was to help Trapsetter avoid marginal situations for all his chips in the first couple of levels of his live career and let him ease into his game.

Must admit that there are some crackin MTT's at my local casino (The Edinburgh Circus). I've popped the schedule at the bottom.

I don't get along to the place as much as I would like but I have to say the standard can be ropey at both rebuy and freezeout with the rebuy edging it for sheer bingo ability.

I would never even consider playing a full rebuy at a casino now. There are 2nd chance and limited rebuys that are well worth the money.
