I don't know if there's enough information here to make the decision but I'd have called in that position, especially with your chip stack. It maybe he has the flush or the straight, but I'd have called.

I don't think either option is "silly!" though.

I don't think he could have a straight, because there isn't a straight draw on the flop (only gutshots) and there was betting on the flop...maybe 8T I guess for a gutshot and got lucky?

KT, unless Hearts I don't think he would have called the flop or turn bet.

I did consider KJ or JQ but I think he would have checked the river with those (and still a brave call on the turn)

caught the end of this one, vwp great finish to ft, total ownage m8 Smile

As for the hand in question, I'd guess at him having flopped a set (limp calling with 44 utg is fairly consistent), a flush (again sooted ace utg limp call mbe), or a fairly unlikely bluff. I dont see him having an actual hand here that youre beating, except for total bluffs.

That's kind of my point. I believe it's a total bluff.

    Hmm interesting one...

Agree on the low set but AKs would seem apt for some styles here (mine inc) limped UTG then saw a just about min raise and 2 calls before action back to him so a smooth call makes sense (depending on stats of those in the hand already)post flop again chk/call or chk/raise 3 way I'd tend to keep my hand hidden a little and go the chk/call path, turn makes hand and with a lead bet I'd smooth call again, river the lead bet chk's, obv's worried on the flush board, I would exploit this with a little reverse logic repping the flush .....trying to squeeze value from doubt.

well if he can plan and execute bluffs like that with ace high then fair play lol...i dunno if I could do that!!!

Although AK suited (and he turned the flush) does make quite a lot of sense

reason for the line of thought is...

You lead on flush turn 3k, big bet hike from 800 on flop bets and with only 1200 invested why call 3k on flush made board, lead from a bettor who like him self had only Limped pre and called the min raise... to do this with set is courting danger.

IMO you made a stab and a good fold

It's never easy to fold 2 pair, especially for me as I have problems folding Ace high...seriously !!

Anyway, here, it is a good solid fold IMO.

The pot is multiway, for him to bet into it, shows considerable strength. Then he flats your lead out on a flush card. So, either he has overpair, set, pair + redraw or made flush.

When you check the river, all the hands that beat you bet again i.e. flush, most of the times sets will vb but not always. Other hands i.e. AA or AJxh will check now as pot is pretty big and they don't want to value own themselves. Pretty difficult spot for you to call and be winning, although, as always, it is possible.

    Good fold imo
