Tilt at the table Empty Tilt at the table

    Post  phinnies1 Mon Mar 16, 2009 4:54 pm

Ok let me ask this, I often tilt in the virtual environment, get angry because some muppet just cracked my aces with 72 off and donk off all my chips everywhere else. Its a sick thing, so I try to play more in the live environment, I never get angry, what is there to get angry about, you are face to face with said muppet and you can abuse the hell out of him, its great.

So lets get to the point of this post, is there a particular person you play against online or live who tilts you? Just gets your back up before you have even played a hand?

Well I was fortunate enough to be cruising around the Caribbean last year playing poker and was in the main event for a full day with a woman who tilted the hell out of me, how is this possible, Im in paradise on a cruise ship with great people, the weather is fabulous the booze was flowing, what can go wrong?. Im not one for taking music to the table, I like to listen to everything around me, look for tells, focus on people and I cant do that with AC/DC blazing in my ears, on this particular day did I ever regret it.
A woman comes to the table, seems pleasent enough, she is chatty but hey whats wrong with that, she is on holiday too. What I didnt realise is this woman has a special talent, in fact she has 2 special talents, the first, she can drink 3 Gin and tonics an hour for 14 straight hours, the second and more impressive, she can go without breath for 14 hours. Thats exactly how long it took between her first and last breaths, and in between just the most phenominal amount of blathering I have ever had the misfortune to witness.
I know women who can talk, in fact my fabulous lady wife is at this very moment in my right ear but this one was something else. She would talk about anything and everything, and as the gin got more plentiful the chat got louder. She would actually talk through every hand, how she was playin, the fact she was card dead, the fact she had a tough decision, the fact she had to lay down aces ona bad flop etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc ....
The more she spoke the more annoyed I became, I started noticing her other bad points, which all in turn became more annoying: very overweight with a very huge chin which would wobble every time she moved her head.
I was so tilted that I actually called off my stack with JTss knowing she had me crushed pre flop to be against her AA, I was happy either way, one of us would be leaving the table, it was the icing on the cake when the flop hit 789 with 2 spades!!

Anyway, why bring this up now I hear?
I have just returned from London, playing 2 events at the Empire casino in Leicester Sq. A £500 event on Thurs and lo and behold she is in the same tourney, luckily enough in a different room from me....but on Saturday I played the £1k event. On the way I was describing her to my good friend and saying how typical it would be if I am on her table.
When I look at my table companions I see her name and almost cry. She arrives 5 minutes before the start, finds her seat and goes to get a drink, in the meantime a fellow takes her seat, plays and wins the first hand and when she turns up to try to turf him out she has to move to his seat....what a great beat!! whatever happens now win or lose, Im on a roll.
But alas she is only sat just behind me, she proceeds to annoy the whole of my table with her continuous diatribe which just never ceases, there are people putting on earphones to block it out. And then the unspeakable happens, I get moved to her table!!.

The conclusion to this story....lets just say it had a happy ending, unfortunately my JT couldnt crack her AA for a second time....but when the chips went in the could only be a good result whoever won!!!

    Have a few.

    1) all the short stackers that play stars 200 & 400 nl with stats anything over 5/2 got several I see running 23/3 and big minus $ won !! live of rake obv but bug the fook out of me as they are like ants and swarm over a good table killing it with hit & run junk shoving, now ok I don't mind 1 or 2 good short stackers so long as I don't have both of them to my left (if so I'm out of there unless juicy game) but being an ex SS myself these high Vpip SS have no concept of the SS game but have seen it work and think they can do it !! best they do is break even and live of $2k of rake a month !!

2)"Deliiight" from the old laddies days, when ever "D" was at any of my MTT tabs it would tend to be late in the game and heavy ish blinds and over numerous years it would end up with me going out to a total muff from some donkeyfishluckbox (not D) who has cracked my flopped set by a runner runner and worst still justify the call with comments of " I had outs" FFS with runner runner chances are 7,2o had fooking outs !!, or I'd run into "D" with 2nd best hand...... either way she was bad news for me.

In the infamous words of Tuff_Fish (who seems to be the buzz player name again thanks to card player mag) those were the days :-)
