Dream Team weekend Empty Dream Team weekend

Post  Jon Huckle Wed Mar 25, 2009 8:26 am

This weekend saw the Dream team finals at Star City Birmingham and the usual motley crue of muffers chancers and heavy drinkers descended on the Circus casino for a weekend of fun.
Having had a terrible series on online events less the ones i missed as id spat my dummy out over rule changes I decided to go to support the guys and play some side events and have a few beers.
Friday night arrived just in time to see the 10 rebuy start and luckily Dicie was in in im going to get drunk mode and happily offered me his seat.
I gave him a saver for his kind offer and happily sat down and played fast and loose to bulild a stack from my 1000 starting chips. 12,000 after the addon gave me a good shot and after only spending £50 total was a cheap one.
For some reason the locals seemed more interested in going home than playing and a series of donations gave me 30k within an hour of the rebuys ending.
Not wishing to hang around I decided to play strong as I had tight players acting after me which led to the following hand.
Im on sb holding 72 and raise the bb fiddles suspiciouly with his chips then flat calls
Flop comes 1096 rainbow so i lead out for 8k into 11k pot. he make the obligatorty shove for 12k i have to call and he flips his aces.
8 comes on turn and although feeling slighty guilty i plough on. Slow playing aces is never good in my opinion but i got lucky i admit it.
Stangely enough the mtts start at 9.30 and with 140 runners this was unlikely to finish early and it got to 5.30/6am and i had to be up at 9 so a decided to get hyper agresive to try and end it, unfortunately running into AJ twice when raising in psition and both time it held up but 4th place and just under £500 back.
Having arrived back saturday 15 mins b4 the rebuy ended it was shove and hope time luckily i had a series of calling stations willing to gamble and for another £50 i ammassed 14k in chips.
Being ultra tired is never a way to play poker but despite almost being on auto pilot and managed all the usual moves ch raising reriasing position steal ect and have final table average stack with 40 players left.
i must have fell asleep as i got to the final without much happening with the same chips, the chip leader who was a very good play must have killed a black cat coming to the table cause every move he made went horrible and he blew out 8th.
I onthe other hand had a great read on the table 2 limping fish one donk with no card value 2 position agressive players and rest tighter than a ducks bum. when the limper went fishing in my blind a raised if the agressive guy raised i went over the top.
In the end i had over half the chips in play with 5 left so just a matter of time. Another £800 for little outlay.
Saterday was a 20 freezeout and deep stack 1st prize very tiny and as i dad Rick on my table it was always going to be fireworks. think i lasted 3 or 4 hands b4 running my JJ into Ricks kings then Ak into 10s and that was that, bring on the cash
Strange set up at the casino there were 2 cash tables main and feeder. The main was made up local regulars both were 1/1 pot limiot with £25 sit down yawn fest i thought but as it happens no.
Sat with 100 as there was a few with 150-200 in front of them and immedaite had to fold aj on the river on an ace high flop as a guy raised bet flop and turn hard so could see my self being ahead £50 on river was a too heavy.
Realoaded for another £100. This was an active table with none willing to fold preflop and some not willing to fold even if the missed.
Interesting hand one mid pos Qj sooted raise to £3 by skandie |(could be anything) two callers plus me flop QQ10 he bets pot £14 i make it £30 he soves for £70 more i call he turns over Aces and i take the pot.
He seems somewhat gutted at his only hand got cracked but with 4 in the pot the odds arte someone has the queen, by min raising him perhaps he was put off, that who would bet the flop holding the queen? the player trying to disguise it .
Shortly following this My KK held up allin on flop of 1092 rainbow v QJ yes he reraised me allin on flop with a gutshot.

At this pint ive got about £400 infront of me and looking good and this hand then occured and im confused as the one guys play.

Skandie raises to 3 get reraised by the guy one to my right
to £15 i hold A8 diamonds and call, the loon to my left shoves for 40 skandie and guy to my left just call so i have to call with those odds.
    Flop AK8 rainbow
Skandie checks guy to my left bet £25 into 160 pot hmm he had been active but that a poor bet so i make it £100 the skandie get out of the way the loon to my left flat calls. based on the fact in only really playing him not and he didnt reraise preflop in 100% in miles ahead and after his checking a 2 on the turn i bet £125 (possible flush now) and he turns over his 77 and passes.
Now personally if i bet 25 to see where i am £100 bet back pretty much tells me where i am and leading out against two player into a dead pot with 3 overs is madness but there u go.
Anyway turn and river blank and the shorty mucks at my declaration of 2 pair.
Other interesting hand included the same guy bet £38 with 2 pair on J7543 board with 2 players in the pot,
So after a few hours of fun left the table £500 up not bad for 1/1 potlimit.
Added bonus my team chooping the seat for the Dream team so good luck the Wonkers in Dublin
