    Greeting my fellow forumites,

I was wondering what advice/tips people may have in regards to HORSE tournaments or where to find some in depth material ?

most of the lucky peeps who went to vegas are back this week, so hopefully there are some horse players out of them!

As i said on facebook, almost everyone overplays their hands in omaha and holdem rounds, so rock tight is often the way to go there, and peoples worst game is usually stud8.

You been playing them much? How you finding the standard?

I played one on stars a while back, some guy complaining about not getting his low half.... in stud hi... hehe always fun Smile

in terms of peoples skill levels at games, on average i would list them exactly as in the initials, from best to worst, nobody really plays stud8 so thats defo at the bottom - if you can get good at that youll have a real edge.

Where most players fall down tho i think is in the fact that its fixed limit, and theyre not used to playing omaha hilo or hold'em with fixed limit betting. In both of these youre never going to clear out the field with a raise or reraise until the blinds are really big, so unles there's a raise and reraise in front of you, in which case the 4th bet might get some peeps out, most raising hands become calling hands imo.

as for books or other material... There isnt anything particularly good that ive found. Just go for books on each individual game and work from there...

yup, game strength in initials order sounds right to me.

Although theres far more stud players than razz players, a lot of stud players wont be playing horse as they dont like the low, whereas razz players obviously love the low action, so theyll all be in the horse tourns. And yeah, nobody plays stud8 much lol.

Ah, cheers fellas, I had guessed the Stud games would be peoples weakness, especially Stud 8.

Been playing the games individually to get a "Feel" for them in prperation for the live event.

Indeed, I will be playing in the APAT WCOAP HORSE event late August at DTD, also playing the Omaha event.

am i reading it right... level 5 is stud hilo, with 100 bring in, and level 6 is 300/500 hold'em? If so that seems a big jump, esp with peoples tendency to want to get involved in the hold'em rounds.. going to be some action at the start of that level if thats right.

I believe it is one level = 30mins and the game changes after one rotation of the dealer button, so depending on play, we will either halfway through Omaha8 or just hitting Razz at start of level 2.
