On the other hand i defo aint going out of my way to just to do it. They want it they should come and get it. Be more proactive instead of spending thouasands on advertising in hope people will come to them

I know what you mean, Chris! It's a right pain whenever you go to these areas but I suppose it's better to be fsafe than sorry. What they do need to make clear to people, however is that it is OK to give blood even if:
a) You've been to Europe;
b) You've got high blood pressure (depending on the tablets);
c) You drink;
d) You smoke;
e) You're overweight;
f) many other things that people get mixed up with.
A personal thanks to all that do give blood.

Blood is made in the bone marrow. It is composed of red blood cells, platelets, plasma and white blood cells, collectively referred to as blood components. Donations given at our regular blood donation sessions are referred to as "Whole Blood". Platelets are very small cells. They work with the clotting factors in plasma to form a mesh "plug" to stop or prevent bleeding. Plasma is the fluid part of the blood. It contains protein, salts and clotting factors. White cells fight harmful bacteria and help prevent infection. Red cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the tissues.sexyamy83 wrote:Stupid question I know , but what are Platlets.

I've got the 4pm spot as usual Thank you to all out there who use this vital service. To those that don't, I hope you're not expecting any if you get ill.

She will take it to the forum and if it is deemed a worthwhile idea for the whole group then the blood people will be contacted and asked to come along to our work.
Possible 500 people to suck dry

the worst part was using public transport what a nightmare our rail system is
donating platelets is deffinatly worth while, one donation will help 3 adults, 12 children or 20 babies
i can donate every 4-5 weeks. because of my high count,(150 is the average,they can only use peeps with a count of 230 or higher(top 20%)and mine is 349(top 1%) so ime not hooked upto the machine as long as the others
