2 Bubble Spots from SPS freeroll Empty 2 Bubble Spots from SPS freeroll

Post  SpankySpangler Thu May 21, 2009 5:25 pm

I have been lurking for a while and after playing the freeroll tonight I decided now is a good time to post a hand. There are 2 hands I would like some input in. Hand one has a direct impact on the second.

11 left. All bigger stacks on other table.

What is my move? Kingster pushes,I imagine, to avoid the bb within 2 hands. Call over 25% of my stack with ATC or let the 8k stack take the 5100 blinds and antes next 2 hand?

    Shark P.S. Freeroll (Real /Tournament )

    va1eire Fold
    lgjjs Fold
    Badonk to act??

14126 in pot, 4826 to call.

Call and win leaves me with 29079. Call and lose gets me 10127 on the button....with blinds at 1500/3000/300a.

    Whats your reasoning behing calling/folding?

Hi Spangler, and welcome to the forum!

ul in the freeroll, but wp, good run.

I think in this hand I call the short stacks all in.

Youre in trouble anyway if you fold, with about 5bbs left and a sb to pay next hand. The pot is offering you good odds, and against his range you're fairly unlikely to be far enough behind to refuse them. Fold you have 5bbs, call and lose you have 3bbs, the difference is marginal in terms of fold equity. Call and win however and you have nearly 30k, and 10bbs has a decent amount of fold equity.

Also if you call and lose you still have a higher stack than the other shorty who is in the bb next hand, so youve a fairly good chance of not bubbling anyway.

by the way, i make it 29079 chips if you call and win, not 18952 as you say.

    6*300 + 1500 + 3000 + (his 7826) + (your 14953 after paying bb) = 29079

while I agree with Rick re the blinds situation,

Although it would be good to know who's been aggy at the table and who's a ducks bum.
I'd be letting this one go, T6s and I'd be calling the shove as there is some all be it vague connectivity with T6 but T5 is just giving away the chips in my eyes the short shove has obv's been waiting for something (unless just been hit by the hand previous) and you can bet it isn't T4, so while pot odds are good running through Pokerstove, giving him a push range of Any suited, Any Broadway, Any Pair you have 40% Equity, So this play will be break even at best...IMO

If you have 40% equity then the play is way above break even.

    60% of the time you lose 4826 = -2895.6
    40% of the time you gain 14126 = 5650

    so way above break even.

in fact you only need 25% equity for this to be a break even call. So even if his range is any pair or AQ or AK, youre still getting the right odds. And thats ridiculously tight for someone in 2nd pos with 2 bbs.

If you fold you have 5bbs, if you call and lose you have 3bbs, If you call and win you have almost 10bbs. 3 and 5bbs are both in equally the same amount of shit here really, with no fold equity. So actually calling and losing isnt going to make much difference. 10bbs however makes a lot of difference.

So by pot odds its a call.

By stack size its a call

This couldnt be anymore of a call.

I ment even at the pot win being "at best being even" m8t, Even though the Equity in winning is greater the fact of going to 3bb with the small blind to follow is not a play I would make, and would be much happier attacking both the short stacks and larger stack with a better holding in the next hand or 2.

IMO I'd rather find a better hand to work with, I am tight as well you know so for me T5s is out of my range in that spot with the stack I have and i'd be willing to let the blind go his way.

And infact made a simlar call last night in 6.5k this almost crippled me and just manged to squeeze into 4th

I say take a cheap shot at having a nice stack, without really risking much. As ric says 3bb and 5bb aint much difference, but 10bb is playable.
