Seem to get into this situation too often with with PP's, overcard/s on flop and feel I have to fold.

    Classic example just now:

    ** Hand # 2451538702 starting - 2009-02-28 13:53:43
    ** $2k Guarantee[2707226]:Table 7 [Multi Table Hold 'em] (400.00|800.00 NL - MTT) Real Money

    babydue17 sitting in seat 2 with 12235.00
jimmywlee sitting in seat 3 with 4572.00
nickyiddo sitting in seat 4 with 8585.00

    regis30 ante'd - 30.00
    swish_tony ante'd - 30.00

    nini1972 ante'd - 30.00
passbeten posted the small blind - 200.00

    ** Dealing cards to swish_tony: 10h 10c
    ginc13 folded
    regis30 folded
    swish_tony raised to 1200.00
    babydue17 folded
    jimmywlee folded
    nickyiddo folded

    swish_tony folded
    coolscot-400 mucks:
coolscot-400 wins 8250.00 from the main pot

Hate to check this being 1st to act, feel that a check hands control over to the opponent allowing him to fire a bet out and leave me clueless as to where I am? Maybe that's a mistake I'm making?

Absolutely doing my nut in, just never ends arrgghh Q6 ffs, at least if he has a genuine hand it doesn't feel quite so bad!

Time to stop again for a bit I think, it's wearing me right down, gonna have some mentoring but I'm just so sick of poker at the moment, it's got to the stage that even when I'm ahead I feel I need to hit to win a hand. Sick sick sick. That is all, no more bad beat posts from me or I'll swamp the forum Crying or Very sad

    ul with the first one

but see the 2nd hand you posted. it tilts me when people post them. i mean ul and all but seriously its not a bad beat. i would hate to see some people try 12 tabling when you get one of these every 5mins like i do. they would prob have a breakdown

preflop your only 65% to win that hand which means leaves you winning an average 3 out of every 5 bassically

dont be effected at all by these beats as its just standard variance. just smile and move on and im sure it will improve your game by doing so

Yes m8, I know and understand what you are saying. But when they are relentless it starts to wear me down! 3 out of every 5 I would take that every time, but it really seems like it's more like 1 out of every 5, if that.

I have recently been keeping a rough account of races I get involved in, AK for example, I have lost with 11 out 14 of them against PP's (< KK or AA). PP's for me v AK, have lost with 9 out of the last 11. Something doesn't add up here scratch

I know so many people say they are the unluckiest player alive but honestly m8... it just seems relentless for me for a long time now.

Am going to have some mentoring, as am having a mini-crisis with my poker! Maybe my whole game is nowhere what it should be and am playing really badly, all I know is I usually get my chips in when well ahead but more often than not end up losing the pot!

first thing - these things happen

i dont mean to sound condescending, but theyre going to happen all the fcking time playing poker. Sick yes, but theyre still going to happen.

The second one, i know what overrated is saying, but its not the fact that you lost a 65% shot, its the fact that tardo called with Q6 lol.

players like this tho, theyre happy to get all the money in pre with fck all, but they cant play a flop

if u flat call pre, is he the kind of person who will shove flop regardless? cos he isnt calling an all in on the flop, if he doesnt push himself. I try and stay away from being all in pre, as it removes all the skill.

not a criticism, but if youve noticed he's the kind of player who would call there with Q6, then he's also the kind of player who snap calls you with A3, which is actually ahead of you. You dont want to push here if he calls with any old rubbish, cos youre hand isnt strong enuf. If you had the 10s in this hand, then yeah get them in, but KJ against a calling mup just isnt good enuf for me. He's a tard who cant play (im generalising, i dont know him) but youre playing into his hands by getting it all in pre with him, as it takes out the skill, which is where youre advantage lies. The shove with K high should be reserved for good players who will fold Q6/A5 etc. I realise on this occasion you were 2-1 fav, but often he'll have a rag ace here and youll be behind.

As far as the 1010 goes, yes your flop bet is a bit weak. As it happens he prob had the king or better, but you cant know this, and he certainly wont everytime, so yes betting is better than checking. As a general rule, if im C betting a flop, unless ive hit massively, ill never bet less than my original raise.

You could make your raise slightly smaller in the first place (I tend to raise to 2.5 times bb if im first raiser with no limpers, except certain circumstances), so mbe 950 or 1050 or something, and then C bet a bit more - 950 pre with one caller out of blinds is about 2700 pot, id prob bet 1500. Total outlay only 300 odd more than you but looks a lot stronger. I dont always c bet obv, but only one overcard and only 1 oppo, id defo be betting this one. A check isnt bad tho, and if you check a lot of flops you can get away with checking monsters, and if you bet a lot of flop you can get away with betting monsters.

as an aside, in early pos with pp below jacks, i dont even like raising every time. I know a lot of people advocate never entering a pot first with a limp, but what do you do with 55 here? A raise is just too risky, so you have to fold? I think an early pos limp is a very scary prospect sometimes, so you find a lot of people wont raise you without AK/AQ or op.

anyway, enuf waffling ,hope youre feeling better about poker soon Smile
