I can see them coming back up next year, but if they miss out i feel they may be in trouble and not come back for a while.

More importantly, is Alan Shearer really the man for the job? No management experience, and 1 win from 8 games in charge?

What likely happens is Newcastle win there first few games due to confidence coming back (knowing there one of the best teams in that league). shearer takes all the credit a premier league job opens up and shearer gets well out reputation restored. That or they do what leeds did.
